Utah Valley University Digital Learning Center
The library, or digital learning center, will be the focal point for the academic quad planned to anchor the north end of campus and is visible from I-15 while driving through Orem, Utah. Sanpete Steel was a member of the Design-Build team, handling the steel fabrication and erection. Completion of this new library was a key step in Utah Valley State College’s progress towards university status. The new building will be a signature piece of architecture for the campus and the community. The 190,000 square foot building also includes a 150-seat auditorium. The building and site designs foster views of the mountains to the north and east and of Utah Lake on the west. Special two-story reading rooms located on the northeast corner and the west face of the building on the fourth and fifth floors take advantage of these spectacular views. Students and Faculty will have access to dozens of group study rooms, library instruction spaces, labs, and seminar rooms. All told, the facility will be able to accommodate almost 2,000 user seats, including study carrels and tables in and around stack areas, and close to 300,000 volumes, or enough to accommodate growth of the library’s collection over the next 15 to 20 years.
Union Heights Office Building
The 6-story Union Heights Offices are located at 7730 South 1300 East in newly incorporated Cottonwood Heights, Utah. The project, fabricated and erected by Sanpete Steel, featured a significant quantity of curved tube and wide flange sections in the building center connecting east and west wings at 15 degrees to each other creating a very interesting architectural project.
Paradise Aviation Hangars
The four Paradise Aviation jet hangers fabricated and erected by Sanpete Steel (Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 7) border the west side of McCarran Airport in Las Vegas. The 154,000-square foot project provides corporate and resort executives with exclusive accommodations for their private jets.
University of Nevada Reno, Joe Crowley Student Center
The Joe Crowley Student Union Building is four stories tall and contains approximately 167,000 square feet of space. Students chose to name the building in honor of the man who served for 23 years as President of the University of Nevada, Reno. The new union is an environmentally sustainable building with several ‘green’ aspects, including a day lighting system to reduce artificial light use to minimize energy consumption, very low water use fixtures in bathrooms, high efficiency window glass, on-site cistern containing water from the building’s cooling towers to be used for irrigation, and pervious pavers to help capture and infiltrate storm water back into the ground, eliminating one storm drain and proportionally reducing the water flow to the storm water system.
Henderson, Nevada Civic Center
At Sanpete Steel we like to think that the steel package we provided at the Civic Center in Henderson, Nevada, is one of the reasons that Henderson was named one of the 10 Best Walking Cities of 2007 by Prevention Magazine. The canopies and shades around the exterior of the Civic Center, fabricated and erected by Sanpete Steel, are landmarks making Henderson a truly recognizable location and famous for its civic improvements. Henderson was ranked sixth by Prevention Magazine behind only Madison, Austin, San Francisco, Charlotte and Seattle.
C5A/B Maintenance Hangar, Hill AFB
The Ogden Air Logistics Center, Hill Air Force Base, Utah, is annually ranked as one of the most efficient military installations by the Department of Defense. The steel package provided by Sanpete Steel for the Phase 1-A/B hangar is large enough to house five C5A/B aircraft simultaneously. The hangar has a clear span inside of more than 450 feet by 500 feet.
Rainbow Sunset Pavilion, Building D
Sanpete Steel completed its steel fabrication and erection package on the Rainbow Sunset Pavilion, Building B, in the first quarter of 2008. The 8-story, Class A office building will eventually sit between twin 4-story buildings as part of the 550,000-square foot multi-use commercial center located just off the I-215 beltway at the intersection of Rainbow Boulevard and Sunset Road in Las Vegas.
